Taman Suropati is one of Jakarta’s most historic parks. Opened in 1920, it was originally named Burgemeester Bisschopplein after Batavia’s first mayor, G.J. Bisschop. That long history is what gives the park its iconic feel today.

Weather Prep and Best Visit Times for Taman Suropati
Indonesia has two main seasons: dry and rainy. During the dry season, the weather often feels cool, and the many trees provide plenty of shade from the sun. In the rainy season, mornings can feel quite cold, so it helps to dress accordingly.
Weekday mornings are the best time to visit for cooler temperatures and a quieter atmosphere, ideal for walking or jogging. Weekend late mornings feel livelier and suit visitors who enjoy a more social park setting.
